Yesterday, I finished reading "What I Talk When I Talk About Running" by Haruki Murakami which unexpectedly turned to be one of the best non-fiction books that I read in 2016 and immediately become one of my favorite books.
I randomly picked this book as my companion upon passing time and it is so rewarding that it turned to be a treasure for me. The book, of course, focuses on running. But for me it is more than that. I discover about Haruki Murakami's personality and character that has some similarity with me. It's like I am reading about myself.
Of course not all the running experiences and points are something I have encounter since I am not even a runner, but the self-discovery, self-acceptance and personal development part in this book is totally thumbs up. Because not everyone is able to see into themselves deeply and understand themselves truly.
Self-discovery is not easy to understand because to understand the inner you is like a puzzle. First you have to had a clear mind to understand and divide the good and bad side of you then you can start working from the bad side, of course the goal is to accept yourself fully and be the best version of yourself. Acceptance of oneself is never easy as well because sometimes looking at other people positive traits give an impact to your very being and in result letting your mind do the comparing.
All these small details that Haruki share in this book by connecting it with running are mind blowing. It's just relatable to me (at least). And another thing is I think I want to consider doing running and of course not the type of hardcore run, but for health purposes.
